The dental industry is ever-present, but it’s also continuously evolving — and dental clinics that fail to evolve risk being left behind. There’s no magic bullet that can keep a dental clinic ahead of the curve, but a good starting point is ensuring that patient satisfaction levels remain high.

After all, strong patient satisfaction doesn’t just ensure that your existing patients will stay with you. It also increases the likelihood of referrals, which can be a major force behind acquiring new patients.

Understanding the benefits of patient satisfaction is one thing; doing it is another. In this post, we’ll outline a few tried-and-true strategies that should help boost those satisfaction levels and keep them there.

Simplify the Admin Processes

Challenging admin processes have long been a major pain point for dental patients, who generally much prefer to do things their own way. In the past, the technology to make that happen didn’t exist, or integration wasn’t feasible. Today, it is. Allowing patients to create (and manage) appointments, make payments, and complete pre-appointment documents at a time and place that suits them is an easy way to keep them onside.

Allow For More Treatments In a Single Session

Dental patients rarely make appointments because they want to spend their time at the dentist. They do so because they have to. All too often, clinics frustrate patients — even mildly — by essentially forcing them to return to the clinic for multiple sessions. Working to allow more treatments to take place in a single session, rather than over multiple appointments, is an effective way to ensure that patients leave satisfied.

Simplifying and speeding up treatment processes, such as using Bond Force adhesive for dental restorations, Same-Day Dentistry systems that quickly allow for crowns and inlays, and utilizing laser dentistry tools, can all help to complete treatments in a single session. Ultimately, there are fewer things that dental patients like hearing more than, we’re all done here

Enhance the Ambiance of the Clinic

Dental clinics have long held a reputation for being unpleasant places to be. Enhancing the ambiance of the clinic won’t suddenly make the patient’s experience pleasant, but it can make it better — and that can count for a lot. Soft lighting, aromatherapy, and natural elements such as plants and water features can help to put patients more at ease.

Gather Feedback — And Act On It

Finally, if you want to know what your patients want from your dental clinic, then ask them. Feedback surveys exist for a reason. In the past, they’ve been less effective than they could have been because of low response rates and failure on the part of the clinic to act on the feedback that did come in. Both of those things can change.

To improve response rates, send requests promptly (24-48 hours after the appointment), make it mobile-friendly, and offer an incentive (it could be the best $5 you ever spend). You can’t act on all feedback, but if something’s manageable or repeated more than once, then take action.
